Noosa, the gem of the Sunshine Coast

There is no doubt that Queensland is one of the most coveted destinations on Australian travel itineraries. From the lush tropical rainforests to the iconic great barrier reef this place is an absolute dream for travelers and locals alike. One particularly special region of Queensland would have to be the Sunshine Coast. If the name doesn't already give it away this area is everything you could want in a holiday destination and more. From pristine beaches to gorgeous hinterland and not to mention the famous food and wine there is something here for everyone.

One small yet iconic town on the Sunny Coast (as locals lovingly call it) would have to be the town of Noosa. A tranquil little town with such an eclectic mixture of luxury set to the tone of a laid back wellness infused and beach obsessed community. This chic beachside village is the most popular destination on the sunny coast and for good reason. Here you can find designer boutique shopping, budget friendly chains, celebrity chef dining, as well as humble local eateries all living in harmony along the main drag of Noosa. The stunning beaches, breathtaking nature, and bustling streets with shopping and food for every palate and budget will make this destination one of your favorites.

At the epicenter of Noosa culture and allure you will find shopping and food. Here most boutiques, markets, restaurants and cafes all have a common tone centered around local community and wellness, creating an inviting and wholesome feel. A feature of the area would undoubtedly be the markets that can be found in and around Noosa. The area has an ideal climate and geography for local grown produce, that coupled with the communities wellness focus means there is no shortage of farmers markets where you can find fresh produce, homemade goods, and locally caught seafood. One of the most iconic markets in the area is Eumundi Market which has been trading for over 40 years now and hosts over 1 million visitors each year.

After you have gotten your fill of food and shopping head on over to Noosa National Park where you can walk off the passionfruit custard doughnuts that you indulged in at the markets (believe us they are very worth it). Here you will find one of Australasia’s most favorite and most accessible national parks. From the main beach of Noosa you can simply follow a wooden boardwalk past small beach coves and onto Noosa National Park. Here you can spot koalas dozing in eucalyptus trees, dolphin pods frolicking in gentle waves, whales migrating, sea turtles munching on seagrass, and possibly even an echidna scuttling along the footpath.

From here there is one more natural attraction that should not be missed. The Noosa Everglades are one of the best kept secrets of the Sunshine Coast. Here you will find one of Australia’s most diverse ecosystems as well as one of only two everglade systems in the whole world. This tropical wetland is a tranquil and natural beauty that is best explored on a kayak or paddle board. There are many guided tours of the everglades that even offer boat options for those who do not wish to paddle their way through the tree lined pristine waters.

Last but not least the not so hidden gem of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast is in fact Noosa Main Beach. The beach is at the center of town and adjacent to the bustling foodie haven of Hastings Street. Here is a great spot to try your hand at surfing. With plenty of surf schools and many coves with varying waves there is a break here for every skill level. We also recommend that you head down here for sunset at least once during your visit. As you walk along the golden sands the warm blue water laps at your feet as gentle waves roll in. The sun casts its golden haze over the sandy beach and the azure waters while locals and tourists alike pause to enjoy the moment.

From a the unique tropical wetland everglade ecosystem to the world class surf breaks, and the unimaginably accessible National Park you can see why Noosa is a must while visiting the Sunshine Coast or Queensland in general. You will quickly fall in love with the unprecedented mixture of luxury, tranquility, wholesome, and laid back beach vibes that gives this town it's fame and its allure.
